Fourth of July cards

Hello!

It’s hard to believe that the year is already half over and summer is in full swing.  Next weekend is Fourth of July weekend so I made a couple cards to celebrate the occasion based on this card sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches  at  tuesdaymorningsketches.blogspot.com

So here is the first card I made with the sketch.

Supplies you will need:

  • Cardstock:  Night of Navy, Real Red, Whisper White, glitter paper,
  • Water color paper for the heart stamp
  • Stamps I used:  The heart stamp is from The Stampington Company, Lake Forest, CA and it is called Large Block Heart #2.  The Happy 4th of July stamp is from Stampabilities and I am pretty sure I bought this one from Hobby Lobby.
  • Stampin’ Write Marker:  Real Red
  • Ink:  Night of Navy
  • Star framelit
  • Perfect Layers tool
  • Adhesive:  Scrappy tape, dimensionals

Assembling the card:

  1. Form a card base so the card measures 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.
  2. Cut a strip of white cardstock 1″ x 5 1/2″
  3. Cut a strip of red cardstock 1″ x 5 1/2″
  4. Adhere the red cardstock strip to the white cardstock strip so that is covers half of the strip.
  5. Adhere both of these to the card front 1/2″ from the fold.
  6. For card 1 cut a piece of white cardstock 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″.  Stamp sentiment on this piece and adhere to card front at shown.
  7. For card 2   stamp the heart  first onto the water color paper in Night of Navy ink and color in the stripes with the Real Red marker. Then  cut it to measure 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ and so that the heart is centered. Adhere to the front of the card as shown
  8. Cut out 6 stars (3 for each card). On the first card I attached the stars to the card using dimensionals.  On card 2 they are glued directly onto the card (since I am mailing this one to my parents).
  9. On the inside of each card I cut a piece of white cardstock 3 3/4″ x 5″ and layered using my Perfect Layers tool with a 1/8″ border so that the red piece measures 4″ x 5 1/4″

This was a very quick and easy card to make and can be adapted for many different occasions.  I hope that you and your family have a very safe and happy 4th of July.
